Picking optimal event dates

We want to try and avoid schedule conflicts for our events. Picking a date is never easy, and venue availability is a key factor in that date, but we also want to avoid holidays, religious events and other conflicts that would adversely affect peoples ability to attend (part of our Openness value).

To help planners and learn from the past, here are some key things to check as dates are considered:

  1. Check Public holidays in the United States and Holidays and Observances.
  2. Check the Minneapolis Public Schools Calendar for potential conflicts, notably spring break or other times when many people will be out of town.
  3. Check the TECHdotMN event calendar.
  4. Check dates of named conferences/events:
    1. Twin Cities Code Camp
    2. Twin Cities Startup Weekend
    3. MinneWebCon
